MELBOURNE, Aug* G As outcome of reports of Travelling Commissioners seeking new outlets for trade, trial shipments of Victorian produce have been sent to Hongkong, Shanghai and Singapore.
Since new classification of railway charges came into force there has been heavy shortage. Commissioners estimated it would amount to £30,000 for year, whereas it amounts to £22,800 for first four weeks. Minister for Railways now finds he can dispense with 750 employees. Heads of various branches are opposed to this on grounds it will endanger working of railways. Minister proposes to retire men in batches, fifty at a time.
SIDNEY, Aug 5 Men who captured free laborers at Wilcannia sentenced to G months' imprisonment each.
Premier has published address to electors. He states the Cabinet places questions of Local Govt, reform of land laws, simple Customs tariff and
satisfactory system of direct taxation in first rank of its tirogramme.

Rush set in to White Feather district, Coolgardie, where good alluvial gold is reported to have been discovered. Nuggets from 10 to 20 ozs picked up.
Territorial Boundary Dispute.
Melbourne : Kingston, Premier, of S. Australia, wired that he had brought matters to a head in connection with boundary dispute, by cancelling proclamation issued in 1847 fixing boundary 2 miles further west than it is now claimed to be. Victorian Premier replied jocosely that declaration of war with South Australia in these dull times would be interesting and entertaining.
MELBOURNE, Aug 6
Patterson says there is no necessity to reopen boundary question. He is of opinion fifteen yours undisputed occupation forms sufficient title.
