Taxation Dispute.

AUCKLAND, July 17 Serious difficulty has arisen between Commr. of Taxes and Colonial Sugar Refining Company with regard to Income Tax assesment of Company. Commr., in addition to ordinary tax, desires to tax profits of Company accruing from production of raw material in Fiji. Company declines to pay this, and has decided to close down Auckland works if demand made by the Commissioner is insisted on. The works employ 80 men, who at meeting held last night resolved to approach Govt on subject.
