Factories Act consolidates law for supervising and regulating workrooms. Principal alterations in existing law are that where piece work is given out bv occupier of a factory or workroom to be done in private dwelling or unregistered workshop printer’s label, as prescribed in schedule’ is to be affixed to same. Safeguards for machinery are provided, also fire escapes, and all doors are to be hung so as to open outwards. Power to inspect accommodation for shearers is given. Persons under 16 are not to be employed unless they have passed the fourth standard. Wages are to be paid to women and young persons when the factory or workroom is closed on holidays.
