The Colonial Conference.
OTTAWA, July 8 | Conference passed resolution favouring preferential trade. Australian delegates strongly opposed proposal to ratify treaty between l France and Canada, as it was calculated to deprive Australia of market for her j wines in Canada. July 10 Caron proposed and Wrixon seconded, motion to effect that Great Britain should be asked to subsidise Canadian-Atlantic mail service, the ! Colonies supporting cost of Pacific ■ service. Canadian Govt requested to ascertain cost of Pacific cable. Conference carried preferential trade ■ resolution by 5 to 3. Dissentient , Colonies were N S. Wales, N. Z. and j Qeensland. Conference now closed.
