LONDON, July 7 Coal owners and Miners’ Federation
of Great Britain have informally come to agreement on a basis of reduction of 10 per cent for period of 2 years. This decision will, it is thought, be likely to settle Scotch strike.
In the Lords, Salisbury introduced Bill for exclusion from United Kingdom of destitute aliens and making provisions for expelling foreigners guilty of taking part in aggressive plots. Premier said he would not oppose first proposal, but as regards second he expressed opinion as to British detective force being quite ample to cope with the evil. Bill read first time. Plot been discovered having for its object destruction of train on which the
Czarewitch would travel on his return from England. Twenty five Nihilists, supposed to be concerned in the plot, have been arrested. RIO DE JANEIRO, July 7 Loyalists defeated the rebels in Rio Grande. About 1000 killed, including many officers. PARIS, July 8 French Cabinet drafted Bill for increasing penalties for Anarchist crimes. It gives magistrates summary jurisdiction and prohibits reports of trials being published.
