Senate passed Tariff Bill. Senator Sherman’s amendment of Tariff for 30 per cent, duty on raw wool was defeated by 37 to 32. Wool therefore, remains free, and Tariff will come into operation on August Ist. The Bill read third time by 39 to 34.

There was dramatic scene at passing of Tariff Bill. Senator Till solemnly charged Democrats with being false to party pledges and to their country.

Owing to strike, 1200 armed policemen are guarding railways at Chicago. Troops also been reinforced.
