FOOTBALL.

A well attended meeting of the K.C.F.C. was held last Wednesday, in the Court House. Mr A. Clemett was in the chair.

Qn the motion of Mr Ritchie, it was agreed that the subscription for junior members (those under 18 years of age) be reduced to 2s 6d.

The Secretary read a telegram from Mr Lecocq, Secretary of the Waiau Football Club, challenging the local Club—the match to be played at Kaikoura on the 14th inst.

It was agreed that the challenge be accepted, and that the Secretary reply to that effect.

Considerable discussion took place as to the mode of entertaining the visitors, but eventually it was decided that a ball be given in their honour. The admission fee for the home team, and for any member of the Club wishing to attend, was fixed at ss. It was suggested that the match be played on the Recreation Ground, and that a charge for admission be made, but this did not meet with approval, it being argued that the ground is a public reserve, and, therefore, the Club could not charge for admission. After some further talk the Secretary was instructed to make arrangements about a suitable ground.

In answer to a question the Secretary stated that, after paying a few small accounts, there was a balance in hand of £2 3s.

The meeting then adjourned, and the Management Committee then met to select the team to play against Waiau, but it was not definitely decided who should represent the Club.

The Committee meet again on Tuesday to settle the matter.
