To the Editor.

Consulting the Council. Sib, —I think it is what is called a new departure for the Land Board to consult the local County Council as to the disposal of land applied for in the district. I hope that in every case, in future, when people in this district, or in any other part of Marlborough, apply for a piece of land, like that applied for in the South Bay, that the Land Board will consult the local body. No possible harm can be done by making such applications known, while there is every possibility of good being done, especially if it prevents keys to positions being sold, as has been done in many cases in the past. I am, etc , Safety.
