Cold and wet weather is affecting European crops. Market is hardening. General recovery expected. Speaking at political banquet, Lord Salisbury declared Sir W. Harcourt’s budget has created the first serious difference between Australia and England. Understood British Govt have instructed Lord Jersey, British delegate at Canada Conference, to avoid Samoan and kindred topics, and confine his attention to proposed Pacific cable, and trade and postal matters.
Letters are appearing in the daily newspapers demanding judicial enquiry into collapse of Anglo-Australian Investment and Finance Coy.
NEW YORK, June 10
At Newport, Virginia, owing to his denunciation of lynching, the mob tarred and feathered Dr Atone, a British subject. Latter brought the outrage under notice of Sir J. Patincefote, and asked him to procure indemnity from United States Govt.
