North Star Lodge.
The members of the Good Templar Lodge had a very successful Open Meeting last evening in the Masonic Hall, which was crowded throughout. After initiations and readmissions, the doors of the Lodge were thrown open and the public admitted. Bro D. Haswell, C.T., occupied the chair, having on the platform, to the right, Bros J. Howard, L.D., and P. W. Morris, Secy., to the left Bro J. Mclnnes, P.L.D., and A. Maxton, F.S. A lengthy programme, containing some twenty items, was presented, the various numbers being, for the most part, admirably given, and warmly received. Songs were given by Miss Davidson and Miss Maggie Gibson, Mrs Love, Messrs Boyens, Robertshaw (both encored), and Cox, Bros Lee, (Newton (encored), D. Haswell, and A. Maxton (encored), and a duet by Miss Gray and Bro D. Haswell (encored). Recitations were given by Sis Tasker (encored), Bros Mclnnes and Carpenter, and Mr John Smith (encored). Readings by Messrs Smart and Renner. Accompaniments were played by Mrs Flower and Sis E. Morris, the Misses Davidson, M. Davidson, and Haswell. On the motion of Bro Lee, a vote of thanks was accorded the non-members of the Order who bad assisted. •
The Chairman thanked those present for their attendance, hoped they had enjoyed themselves, and announced that the next Open Meeting would be held on the 11th of June.
