WELLINGTON, May 9 Several earthquake shocks felt at Auckland and Thames on Tuesday morning. One was exceptionally severe, lasting 15 seconds. A gang of burglars are at work in Dunedin.
Gillon (editor) and Hoben (Parliamentary reporter of Po»t) cited to give evidence before Fox Commission, but refuse to attend.
Garrett Berry, an old settler near Blenheim, found dead in his bed. Burglars busy in various part of the Colony. Settlers in Forty Mile Bush gloomy over scarcity of grass and low prices of stock. G. Blaker, who came to Wellington about 50 years since, by ship Ennerdale, died in Sydney recently. Hon Dr Pollen undergone successful operation for cataract ; hopes to take seat in Legislative Council this session Kelly, missing West Coast prospector, found alive; mate drowned. Cross, sailor of H. M. S. Orlando drowned at Auckland wharf, at night; believed he struck his head against a stringer as he fell in water.
