SCHOOL ELECTIONS.
SUBURBAN.
Householders did not muster in strong force in the Suburban School on Monday evening, the total of such attendance being nine relatively better, however, than in the Town. Mr Caleb Smith was voted to the chair, and read the outgoing Committee’s report and balance sheet. I'he latter showed : Received and paid for salaries, £234 Is 3d. Incidentals: Received, £49 Ils 3d; paid, £4B Ils. Balance at the commencement of the year was £2l 5s 6d. During the year the sum of £2O was expended in improvement of the playground and in sowing grass. At the commencement of the year there were 102 children on the roll, now 95. On the motion of Mr Barratt, seconded by Mr Chisnail, the report and balance sheet submitted were adopted. On the motion of Mr Barratt, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the outgoing Committee. The election of School Committee for the current year was then proceeded with, and the following unanimously chosen: H. J. Barratt, Jas. Boyd, H. Chisnall, W. G. Chisnall, J. Paap, E. O. Palmer and G. Taylor. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings. The Committee met subsequently and unanimously made choice of Mr G. Taylor as Chairman.
WAIAU.
Apathy was displayed at Waiau over the election, and there was a very small attendance, so small, indeed, that one of those present had to go out and obtain the assent of another householder to complete the number required to form a Committee, which was declared elected as follows: Messrs Bayliffe, Creed, Green, Mitchell, O’Malley, Scaife and Stevens. Mr O’Malley was elected Chairman, and Mr Bayliffe reelected Secretary.
