FOOTBALL.
A successful meeting was held at the Court House last Wednesday evening re the revival of football here. Mr F. Cox was voted to the chair, and stated, briefly, the object of the meeting. He said it was generally understood that the previous Club had wound up with the intention, if possible, of reconstructing on a sounder basis this season. He thought the lack of interest shown by footballers here was due to the fact of their not being able to arrange matches with outside Clubs —means of transit barring the way. He said it rested with the meeting whether a Club be formed or not. Whereupon It was proposed by Mr Low, and seconded by Mr P. Morris : ‘ That a Club be formed, to be called the Kaikoura County Football Club.’ Carried unanimously. The following were then proposed and elected : President: A. S. Collins, Esq.; Vice Presidents: Drs Fraser and Gunn, Capt Davidson, Wm. Smith Esq., Messrs Burland, Renner, and Meredith, M.H.R. Captain: A. Davidson ; Deputy Captain : A. Clemett; Secretary and Treasurer :D. Haswell. Committee of management: A. Davidson, A. Clemett, F. Cox, P. Morris, and D. Haswell, The Secretary was instructed to write the Secretary of the Waiau FootFootball Club with the view to arranging a match; for a copy of the Marlborough Rugby rules; for permission to play on tbe Recreation Ground; and, also, to arrange minor matters. It was resolved to open the season on the 10th of May with a Town v. Country match. It was resolved that the Club adopt the same colours as previously, namely: cardinal and blue; and, also, that the Club subscription be the same. The meeting then adjourned.
