Rosebery, addressing Liberal party, says owing to extension of franchise a new spirit towards Imperial interests animates Liberal Govt. The unity of the Empire must be maintained, and its flag must not be lowered abroad. He regards it as impossible to unite with leaders of Unionist party. Mine owners have sent protest to Premier against 8 Hours Bill, on ground it will raise prices, and prevent England from competing with foreingners. Rosebery replied it was impossible for long hours of labor to continue in Europe, in view of extension of franchise now in progress. Over 600 carcasses frozen mutton, part of cargo of ship Wellington, condemned.
