Labour Strife iu America.
WASHINGTON, April 22 Bands of Coxey’s army have repeatedly seized trains, and threaten to damage railways unless assistance is given them. At Washington some of the bands carry dynamite about with them. The Lower House is discussing the unemployed question. Reinforcements of Coxey’s Labor Army is marching to Washington. NEW YORK. April 23 Colliers strike in United States has begun. Large body of Codey’s men are arranging to assist them. Omaha Railway Companys stopped their services, fearing outrages. This city is thus isolated. Militia has been warned to be in readiness, and citizens are urged to provide waggons to assist in exodus from the town.
Government of Samoa.
LONDON, April 20 Pall Mall Gazette refers iu favorable terms to decision of New Zealand Govt with regard to the annexation of Samoa. Sir G. Grey is pleased with attitude of New Zealand Govt over Samoan difficulty. He expresses belief that the English speaking people should control whole of Pacific islands. BERLIN, April 22 Vossisclte Zeitung thinks the wisest course would be to accept New Zealand’s offer to take over Samoan islands. LONDON, April 21 British Press generally agree with proposal submitted by N. Z. Govt for annexation of Samoa. BERLIN, April 23 Hanover Courier believes Germany, in order to protect German interests, will reject N. Z’s. proposal for annexation of Samoa.
Heavy Earthquakes in Greece.
Grent Loss of Life. ATHENS, April 22 Earthquakes have occurred in various parts of Greece, resulting serious loss of life. ATHENS, April 23 Immense damage here and surrounding districts by earthquakes. It is believed 260 persons have been buried alive in country districts. Thebes has been ruined through the earthquake.
