Last year Victoria paid the sum of £10,700 to State teachers for sick pay. Wellington R.M. (Martin) fined two bookmakers £lO each for cash betting on a racecourse, and said if his decision was appealed against and the decision upheld he would in future, unless under exceptionally palliating circumstances, indict imprisonment without option of fine. This means total exclusion of such bookmakers from the Wellington racecourse, under penalty of imprisonment.
