WELLINGTON, Feb 5 Heavy northerly gale in Wellington and Taranaki districts on Saturday, No damage reported. Heavy rain in Blenheim, lower parts of the town are flooded.

WELLINGTON, Today Man named Ward was killed by a falling tree near New Plymouth. During gale on Friday, a fisherman, named Robert Meilis, was drowned by the capsizing of a boat at Auckland. On Saturday the Terranora picked up the White’s Bay end of the cable. Warship Liaard arrived from Milford Sound yesterday afternoon, after a very rough passage. Two men were washed overboard off Cape Foulwind and one drowned. 2 boats were lost.

In libel action Bell v. Fair Play verdict was given for £1 damages, with costs on lowest scale.
