LONDON, March 16 Miner’s Federation held meeting today to discuss duration of strike. Believed majority of delegates are in favor of returning to wo r k on 21st. In Commons, Ellis (Glad. Lib.), M. Gladstone opposed the measure, the second reading of which was negatived by a large majority. The Czar has expressed firm intention of avoiding war. Diplomatic relations between Italy and U. States renewed. U States Government agreed to vote sum of money to families of Sicillians lynched at New Orleans. Booth intends making tour of tl*e Continent in connection with hfs schemes. Tour will be carried out on similar lines to one he recently made in Australia and Naw Zealand. BRUSSELS, March 17 Three Belgian Anarchists sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for stealing 72,000 dynamite cartridges. ST PETERSBURG, March 16 Considerable distress caused by the failure of Gunsberg’s bank. March 17 Transpired the Czar forbade Minister of Finance to advance five million francs to save Gunsberg’s Bank. Assets of institution arc expected to be sufficient to meet liabilities.
