A young couple have recently been sentenced to matrimony in a rather curtou* way. A young man and a young woman were contesting possessioa of a piece of property, the one claming under an old lease, the other old will.' “ It just strikes mej* said .the Justice, “ that there is a pleasant and easy way to terminate this lsw suit. The plaintiff appears to be w very respectable young man, and this is a very nice young woman. Tbmr can both get married and live If they goon with the llaw-proceedings,. it ■ will all be frittered away between the lawyers, who, I am ate not ungallant enough to wish the not to come off.” The
young Isdy blushed, and the young man stammered “ they liked each other a little”; so a verdict-was returned- for . the plaintiff, on condition of ,hi* promise to- marry the defendant within two months —a stay of execution being put to the verdict till the marriage ceremony should be completed.
