The lands which have witnessed our triumphs, and drank our tears ; the lands of our ancestors. Welcome! You observe that the danger of the weapon has now been set aside, and that these two people are now united, with the star of peace as their sole guide, and the kindness of a generous soil alone to stimulate the perspiration of the brow. Hence we rejoice to receive you amongst us to weicome you, and to ask you that * in the discharge of your high duties, you ' look with equal favour upon each of these races.' Welcome to the Hawera, may you, your noble lady companion and family enjoy long life and happiness. We salute you.
