» TO T.JKE;EBI>TOIU 03 THE INANGAnUAi. TIMES. Siß;— Last week the public were invited' fc to tender for certain work for the Enerb getic %arl& Mining Company,. Murray r Creek, namely,, for sinking a shift 100; 5 feet.. Now, what is the objject of calling s tenders, is it not to inv.ite competion, and ' get the work done as- cheap as- possible?.' I was- always under the- impressiou that, ' it was so, but the manager of fche- Ener« getic appears to think otherwise. Now. I amongst many others, tendered 1 * for the work in question, and my tender, which \ was £3 19s per. foot, was nob accepted, x though Bray's tender,, which was sixpence , higher than mine was accepted, and the , only reason I could gob for such a pro* adding w.as that Bray,' was working in.
tlie mine. Now, such a barefaced peice of ftivoritism as that I don't think evi-r happened in the district kefor", aiut tin* nest time the Ene?yetic Company «all for tender* for work they oupht, in justice to the | üblic, to put a notice in some conspicuous pla.ce- f stating t' at aone but those who ane cniiployed in the mine need com.pi*te. For that would enable people not to lose time looking after work tlwit they have no chance to get.-— I urn, yours &c, Wi,tr.iA.M Hr.AB-n-E. Eeefton, l&lh December, 1877.
