Present: Messrs Brennan (c' airman) Cnr,l«js, Bync, Bayfeild, "Kelly and Dick, The consideration of correspondence was resumed as follows :— Up gold pur-aliases. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Bank of New Zealand and other Banks, asking whether in shipments of gold, purchased from Johnston, Barman and others is mentioned as being the produce of the luangabua County, and also to write to the Collectors of Customs Greymouth aud Wostport making similar enquires. Xjdter read from inhabitants of Black', Point, re flood water, lleferred to O rcr seer, with power to act. Ho M'Gillivray's letter, concerning Black's Point track, deferred to Overseer. Hall's letter relative to the completion of road down Shiel Strept, was proved to stand over. 11. E. Gullinp asking for refund •of money spent by h'\vp. in making Uppey SJi^el Street. Clerk instructed tQ obtain plans of Cou,nty rouds from Survey Office, Nelson. Key. Ip'acher parew, respecting tbp child of a woman named Annie Bro^n (in gaol). Muijro, Ei-<j., County Engineer." The Olerk was authorised by resolution to pay all expenses connected tritb the burial of the late Mr A. Munro, and also ilje pxpeuse of erecting headstone. Seponded by Mr Cup|es, nnd carried. Mi' Gardiner waited upon the Council stating that owing to the alteration of the length of the bridge, tho south pier was shifted, and. the site was thus put in danger, and therefore he asked for £6. The matter was ordered to stanJ over, Mr Dash waited upon tl|e Council stating that he had o?ily received £1101 on account of proteptive works nnd urged his claim to, receive £20Qmore as progress payment. The Council after a long discussion decjinpd to accede to the request, Moved by Mr Bayfeild, "That in future the Council meet every fortnight. 1 ' Seconded by Mr Caples, and carried. Moved by Mr Caples " That a telogram be sent to the Premier, Sir George Grey, stating the enqrmous daroagp done tq the main trjjuk roads in \,he County of Inan. gahua, and stating that it is utterly im« possible for the Council to undertake the repairs or open roads for Irafflp. Tlio Clerk was inslrncted to take the solicitor's opiuion as to whether passengers can land oa William's Innd at tha Fern Flat Ferry. The matter of protecting the piers of the bridge was left to the Executive Com» mi I tee, A long discussion ensued as to Iho necessity of appointing an es^ra overseer and the Chairman was empowered to deal with the matter. The Clerk was instigated to obtain solicitor's opiuion as to ppirer of the Council to prevent per<sotns from cutting or removing timhet 1 aloug the. banks of the rjver, A number of accounts passed, and thp CQunoil adjourned.
