Chandiler, second ; Expeetator, third. Splendid race, won by a head. Hurdle Race, Bully for You, firat jTo Whilmomaramara, second ; Gazelle, third ; grand raco, won by sheer hard riding, a short head. Baeclutha, November 8. Twelve conohes and forty borses were required to brins tho passengers through from Clinton to Enlolutha to»day. All were con., veyed by Williams, line without a single hitch. , „ Westpobt, November 8. Unprecedented high floods occurred on Sunday, the river running level with the streets. Tne protective works stood well, no injury to the town, the buck country. The rack country waa flooded. Tho Mount Rochfort railway traffic is stopped, until repairs to line are effected. The old Orawiti Bridge is destroyer!, and Ilerrin's Bridge Hotel washed away . Thr Buller road is destroyed in many places, and wheel traffic to Reefton no longer possible. The County funds are totally inn adequate to make needful repairs. A man named Bell, employed by the County Council was drowned on the Buller road during the flood on Sunday. He was washed from the roof of his hut where he had taken refuge. The remains have since been found.
