Fbiday, Qstober 26. There is no question of doubt that this mine must ultimately come to the fore. The reef has now been followed in the shaft level for over 70 feet varying from 10 to 20 inches in thickness, and it must certainly be admitted that the quality of the stone being daily met has seldom been { equalled in this part of the district. A truck load of quartz was coming out of the tunuel during the time I visited the mine this morning, there was not a piece taken indiscriminately, but disclosed excellent gold. The level upon which this good gold is being obtained has been frequently mentioned, being considerably below the river, and doubtless promises grand things to come. »A contract; has been let to Mr A. McLaren for the erection of a whim. The contractor provides all material for the sum of £73.
The process of the general clearing up for the month was being effected this • morning. The return will doubtless be mentioned in this issue. The mine, coa« tinues to look well showing several excellent faces of stove.
