ENERGETIC.

1 eiday, September 14. For many weeks past, the information respecting tbe general workings of this mine furnished in the weekly resume of mining news has been of a very meagre charader, and may be simply accounted for by tha process of merely breaking

down a mass of stone from a large body of reef, the daily operation of which offers no particular or important change for comment. At the same time sufficient stone is being brought fromj;the mine to constantly occupy thirty headof stampers. A large amount of prospecting in other parts of the claim is being carried on, and more recently tho result {fives promise of a splendid future, and almost efery day the various works disclose gold bearing stone in abundance in all directions. Some short time since a very large block of stone was reported to exist on the 80 foot level, and which is believed to be a leg of the main west reef. During the last few days the same- lode has been intersected on the raain level, and from the point where it is first met on this level in relation to that of the 80-foot and the middle tunnol, it is clearly shown that the lode has a northern strike and a far greater distance along the line of reef is obtained as the works proceed downwards. This- same block of stone on the upper level 1 was very much broken, but on the main level where recently met with is excellently defined, and theface of the drive on Thursday shows five feet of fine solid face of clean stone with far better metal than has come under my notice for some considerable time past. On the 80-foot level this lode has been found in places nearly 40 foet wide, and the form of the walls on main level would certainly denote that the stone will gradually increase in thickness. But what indeed may be looked upon as the grand future for this claim is the really magnificent body of stoiio shown in the trial shaft, which is down 48. feet below the main level, and will be about 30 feet below the leyel of tbe bed of Murray Creek. At the bottom of the shaft there is a perfect cave opened, disclosing 15 l'eet of a grand lode all pure quartz aa solid aa bell metal,, and no signs of the hanging wall. A reef being shown to exist in this form, and 50 feet below the Oflest working level of the mine, and with an abuadaaee of smaller lodes intersected iv other parts oi the mine on the upper workings, we may venture to say that for permaneuce lliere is no mine on the field to equal it.
