It's very absurd now to blab round the town, Of others' affairs to attond, so your own, You'll find it is beter by far in the end, For instead of a foo you'll have many a friend. It's absurd of tho Road Board to think that they can Biidge o'or tho Inangahua stream with a span, It's absurd to imagine ihat intellect reigns— In tho Road Board there isn't 6 oz. of brains. It's absurd ii you think you can find the police, When they're wanted, they're always in some other place. It's absurd of the Wardons to try to o'ercome Objections to Leases beiDg under their thumb. It's likewise absurd, you'll admit it not doubting, To think one's respected a jot for his shouting, It's very absurd if you think you can get A— C »o wool'd as to pay a lost bet. It's absurd to imagine that very select knot Of Councillors owning lower sections here. will not Endeavour to bolster the wrong end of town, Ere (hey look to your interest they'll see to their own. It's absurd to imagine, that Brown's Bo'son'f Chair, Ts aught but a swindle, tho' he doesn't care, It's lfkewise abauvd, without any remorse. To squander the funds thus, to say nothing worse. It's absurd of tbo Government, thia time o year, Sending Trigonometrical Sutveyors here, They can't thro' the fog, I am sure take a sight They might as well look for the buu iv th< night, They sit in their tents and the/ can't helj obtsfrring Tbo bines, white they sea tfc*t H won't gin o'or raining, Ani lastly you will not deny every word I have stated above is mo3t truly absnrdc — Reefton, June 23rd, 1877.
