NIL DESPERANDUM.

For several weeks past hands have been employed at this mine, and have followed a body of stone for nearly 60 feet, varying in thickness from two to four feet. The works are carried on, on the old Hercules low level, and tbe reef being driven on, is said to be the continuation of the beat block of stone contained in the old Golden Ledge ground. The workings, at the present time, are now testing the value of tbit block which is 60 feet of a lower level than the previous Ledge workings, and from the outward show of gold in the stone it may cer« tainly be calculated as payable. There are six men now employed, and about 60 tons of stone in the paddock. It is intended to send ibis through the mill next week.
