Upwards of 200 persons were present, including the Governor, boo. C. C. Bowen, and principal residents of the city and neighborhood. The Georgia Minstrels opened at the Theatre Royal last night to a large house, and the performance was favor* ably criticised. A Shearers' Association is; being established here. Sunday drinking is becoming very prevalent. In Court, to-day, the Superintendent of Police said he was unable to find out who supplied the dnnk so freely on Sunday. A deputation of the Licensed Victualler! waited on the bon. C. C. Bowen to suggest alterations in the Licensing Act, with a view to 12 o'clock and night licenses being granted in Christchurcb, and also allowing private entrances to remain open on Sundays. Mr Bowen said the suggestions were reasonable, and he would bring them before the Government. Ihturcaegili.
