~ •, , — ~-y , __ _ The Westporti. people appear to be fnl!# alive to the necessity and irappr- ■ tance o£ eatablishiDg through dray traffic with Reefton. The Balhr Coiinty Council has dispatched an Engineer to report upon the road, ,aqd the gentleman arrived in Keefton, "on Tuesday last. Ifc it also desired that tbe Inangabua Council will Pee at to, the completion of tbe portion of the road witbin this County, so thafc the works might proceed simultaneously, andi be completed, at. the earliest possible date. Mr Carreras was instructed to proceed and report upon the road.at once,, and left here on Wednesday, last, and it is probable that on that gentleman's return, action wjll be afc^ce taken to, place the road in proper' repair. Our northern neighbours appear to be in earnest with the subject this time, bo that we may goon expect to see Westport competing for .'a share of the Reefton trade.
