RETURN CRICKET MATCH.
CRUSHINGTON V, REEFTON. The return match between the above Cluba was played in, Smith's paddock on Saturday last. The day was beautifully fine, but tbe attendance of the public was not large. It wili be seen that the match stands as a victory for the Crushington team. The batting of the Crush ington men showed a great improvement upon the previous occasion, the defence and hitting of Hayter, Gill, Smith, and Hunter being exceptionally good, It will be seen that the Reefton men gave their opponents 34 runs in wides and byes in the first innings, the wides being 22, and tbe byes X% The Reeftoa side in the first innings obtained only 55, D'Alton alone running into double figures. The Oushington men, broke down completely in the second innings, the match showing the strange spectacle of six players going out in succession for tbe ignominious 0. The Reefton men then went to the wickets with a " dead horse " of 53 runs to pull up. The dap was, however* far advanced, and the match could not be played out, and when the stumps were drawn at 5.30 o'clock, the Keefton men bad run up 34> runs for a loss of three wickets.
