KEEP IT DARK.
The result of the late three weeks' crushing, which has already appeared in print, and although it canoot be sot down as a yield of extraordinary richness is still very satisfactory. The stone passe 1 through the Battery may certainly be considered far many reasons if a-iytfiin^ a little below the average quality. It ur\y be readily understood that in opening oir. a new stope on the tail end of a block of ■lone there is always a little mullock or blocks of slate from either wall will become mixed up with the gold beirinj; stone, to separate which would probably cost more than sending the same through the boxes. The works are now fairly started, and there is apparently no obstacle to prevent crushing operations from being carried on steadily for the next twelve months. The reef on the main level has been followed for fully forty feet, and continues ns strong as erer, averaging 9ft thick, and upon the whole the company's prospects may be considered as decidedly healthy. If the amount of stone tluit is now exposed on the present level is proved to live down to the lowest level, a fear of which there is indeed but slight doubt, there will beat least thtee or four years work, and this independently of a lar^e area of ground as yet entirely unprospected.
