A man named John Monaghan was brought up at the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning charged with the wilful murder of Thomas Cassally, who has a married sister residing at Milton. The man had come to town to spend St. Patrick's Day, and both stayed at the Hibernian Hotel. On Sunday night or Monday morning Monaghan entered Can* sally's room, and wanted to " see ouf " an unsettled dispute. This was smoothed over at the time, and the parties went to the bar, wh«re each had four glasses of brandy, when both went to bed having been overcome with drink, and some time after Cassally was found lying on the floor with a cut on the back of his head, and blood sprinkled about tbe floor and walls. Medical assistance was procured after considerable delay, and Cassally then then complained of extreme pain in urinary organs, and when relief was administered there was an issue of pure blood. He was then removed to the Hos* pital, where* being old. there was no chance of recovery. He said " Jack Monaghan killed me,'' and then died. Ibis morning the prisoner was remanded untill after the inquest. .
