THE HOSPITAL COMMITTEE. [TO THE EDITOR I3AXOAHTTA TnfßS.] Sib, — A good deal of misapprehension seems to exist in reference to the entertain* ment announced in aid of the Hospital. There is a rumor to the effect that the Hospital Committee hare guaranteed the sum of £50 out of the proceeds to pay for the concerts? but on application to several members of the Committee I cannot obtain the slightest information from them as to the truth of the rumor, they being as much in the dark over the matter as lam myself. If the Hospital Committee hare in their wisdom though* proper to purchase the luxury of an eater* tainment so dearly I suppose it is aU well and good, as it is to be presumed that any possible loss accruing from the entertainment will be made good out of their private pockets. There seems to ma to be something very strange about the whole proceeding, that would be as well if it was cleared up. If the concerts are being given gratuitously it ought to be made known in full justice to Mr Cbtterell ; if the/ are being paid for, why not let the vulgar fact out at once. [to thb editor inanqahpa times.] Sib,— l am informed that Mr Warden Shaw took the liberty of engaging the sMrices of Mr and Mrs Cottenll on behalf ol theabove Institution. ■ Now, Sir, assuming that my information h correct, I think it the duty of the Hospital Committee, who appear to knovr nothing about it, to inquire into the matter, and ascertain by what authority or right Mr Shaw LSJ3 tb.3 name of the patronage of theCommittee. A-lmittmg that the funds of the Institute might be uugmer.te I by ih? procedure, Mr Shaw, as ex officio Cniirman, should hate consulted the wishes of the Hospital Committee before tiking on himself such a responsibil;ty as the mcurrenee of a debt to be defrayed by them in lieu of adding to their means. If Mr Shaw is sufficient of a phiianthrophisf. in cose of su -h a contingency to pay the expenses of chs troupe, welt and good, for I feel morally certain that the Hospital funds will not be increased by the movement. I am, &c., SUBSCBIBSB*
