THE ANTONIO'S ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE INAHOAHUA TIMES. Sißi— Your contemporary seems to be fearfully excited over the fact that a num« ber of voters left Eeefton to vote for (as he assumes) Mr Byrne. This he attributes, to a " certain influence." Perhaps he would be kind enough to tell us by what particular " influence " some dozen or so of the residents of Reefton and* | Black's Point went all the way to Antonio's to vote for Mr Duncan ? Perhaps while his band is in, he will also tell us by what particular "influence" Mr L. Davics, a member of the County Council, ■ travelled' all the way to Antonio's to be present at the polling as a scrutineer for |Mr Duncan? Did he go to earn the i guinea, or merely to give a " tone " to ! the proceedings, or what P It seems to me that the class of persons who are most fond of prating about tbeir "liberality," are those who have the least regard for the Scriptural. adage about the mote and the beam. lam, &C.,' Bunkum.
