WEALTH OF NATIONS.
It must certainty be admitted that the motive power for driving this company's machinery is exceedingly well utilised. In addition to 20 seven hundredweight stampers, tbere are now four berdans, the basics of which are five feet in diamater; there is also a circular saw and turning-lathe, and which it is needless to say is a most important assistance in facilitating the necessary repairs in connection with the machinery. The shaft on the upper level is down about 70 feet, carrying the stone from the hanging wall side the whole way. The uprise from the low level has reached nearly 80 feet, aud bolds aS the present time over four feet of stone. The contractors contemplate having the rise and shaft to meet by the end of February.
