LOCAL ROAD BOARD.

The fortnightly meeting of the members of the Keefton Road Board was held at the office of the Board, on Friday last. Present: Messrs Bjrennan (chairman) M'Lean, Aikjen, Ke)\y, X)avies, and the Seorotary. The minutes ol: the previous meeting were read and confirmed. T,be Seoretary reported that he had received the following sums from the Government : —^2so, being subsidy from the Nelson Government on account of. protective works; and £250 12s Id being contribution under the " Payment of Provinces Act.'* The cjue-tion of finance was gone into, when it was shown that after defrsying all the current engagements of the Board, there would be a surplus of about £30, which amount would be subject to reductions for all works undertaken by the Board prior to being incorporated in the County. ! The Secretary reported that nothing had been done wilh reference to the erection of a powder magfixine, as the " Pan- 1 gerous Goods Act " had not been brought into operation in the district.
