SMALLPOX IN AUCKLAND.

A report handed in to-day states that the smallpox, which the authorities tried to hush up some time before the strike, was never properly mastered. The Auckland papers, having the Exhibition in view, did their utmost to make light of the outbreak. They called it “the epidemic,” “the reported outbreak,” etc., etc. —anything but what it was. Intending visitors to Auckland will do well to keep away, and warn their friends.
