SHOW HELD AT NGATEA SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION FLOWERS, PRODUCE & SEWING On Wednesday, April 19, the Ngatea branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union staged a very successful autumn flower show, when many really exquisite blooms were exhibited, making the occasion an outstanding one. The cooking stall under the care of Mrs F. Speedy, Mrs A. Douglas and Mrs -R. B. Hodgson, was well laden with both cakes and confectionery, while the produce table was equally generously stocked, with Mrs B. Keyes and Mrs S. Ecclestone in charge. Mrs A. Cleave was responsible for the knitting and fancywork section in which the exhibits were of an excellent standard. The success of the show was, in particular, due to the energetic working committee headed by Mrs J. Spence, appreciation being duly recorded as well as thanks to all who helped by exhibits and in general. The beautiful cake won by Mrs Sherlock was made and donated by Mrs Wallace Jones.

Mrs Pacey and Mrs Hegh were judges of the flower section and floral displays, Mrs F. Hallett of the knitting and fancy work entries; cooking section, Mr J l . Dalgarno; vegetables and preserves, Mr Adams. Afternoon tea arrangements were in the hands of Mrs T. McClean and Mrs J. McWatters.. The show was opened by Mrs F. Hansen, of Waitoa, district president, who outlined the activities of the Women’s Division in a most interesting manner. Mrs Hansen also remarked on the magnificence of the blooms displayed at this show. Results:— Special points ' over everything.— Mrs W. Flint. Points prize, section A.—Mrs J. Motion.
