Rugby Match All footballers who intend playing this season are requested to attend a practice match on the Paeroa Domain at 2 p.m. on Saturday. /Methodist Services The Paeroa Methodist Church' congregation has decided to combine on Sunday morning next with the Salvation Army, at a service to Ibe conducted in. the Army’s hall by the 'Rev. F. A. Thompson (missioner in Paeroa United Mission). In the evening the congregation will attend the ‘Presbyterian Church for a united mission service. Grand Dance At Turua The Turua Football Club will .hold a dance in the Turua Hall on Monday night when a good evening’s fun is promised. Walker’s Orchestra will supply the music and there will be novelty dances and a good supper. Mayor’s Relief Fund A grant of £5 for the Mayor’s Relief Fund, part of the profit from the “Lot To, z .,Lift” Art Union, was received from the Minister of Internal Affairs at the April meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council. End of Season The official closing of the 194-3-44 season of the Paeroa Bowling Club will be held on the Paeroa Domain on Saturday. Birds Spreading Blackberry The opinion that birds perching on the telephone and electric power wires were largely responsible for the spread of blackberry along the roads on the Hauraki Plains was expressed' by the noxious weeds inspector, Mr W. W. Williams at the April meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. Cleaning Of Outfall Drains “A start was made with the’cleaning of the main outfall drain and good progress has been made. No gumhoots are available for the men on this work and in consequence the men can only be worked seven hours per day on this job,” reported the works committee to the April meeting of the Paeroa, Bprough Council.
