WEDDING BELLS
SIMPSON-—ANDERSON MERCURY BAY CEREMONY A wedding of" wide interest was celebrated at the Mercury Bay church on April 16 when Sybil Mary, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Arthur Simpson was married to Gordon William (Master-Sgt. U.S. Army), only son of Mr and Mrs G. Anderson, Massachusetts. Rev. Small of Anglican Church, Thames, officiated. The church was beautifully decorated in pastel-toned flowers by girl friends of the bride.
The bride was a lovely hyacinth blue frock with navy accessories and carried a (bouquet of blue shaded flowers.
•Her sister Edith was bridesmaid and was gowned in a mist grey frock with teal hat and. carried a bouquet to tone.
Cpl. Marvin Hesley, U.S. Army, Minnesota, was the best man. At the reception, which was held at ‘dealing’s” the guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a smart blue ensemble. About 40 guests sat down to the wedding breakfast. The tables were beautifully set and masses of glorious flowers everywhere. A lovely floral wedding bell hung over the happy bridal pair.
Among the guests were Rev. and Mrs Small, Mrs Simpson Snr., Mrs J. Jackman, Mrs Averill and Miss Betty Averill, Miss Ann Kay, Mr and Mrs H. Simpson, Mrs E. Prestage. Miss M. Simpson, Mr and Mrs Alfred Simpson, Miss B. Simpson, Mr and Mrs Turner, Mr and Mrs R. 0. Smith, Mr and Mrs C. Smith, Mr and Mrs S. Davies.
