AWAITI TO TIROHIA
METALLING OF THE ROAD PLAINS COUNTY SUPPORT REQUEST FROM PIAKO COUNTY The question of the formation and metalling- of the Awaiti-Tirohia road was brought to the notice of the Hauraki Plains County Council at its April meeting by the Piako County Council who pointed out that ratepayers in that area of the Plains would benefit if the road was completed. The letter from the clerk of the Piako County Council read as under: “At a recent meeting of the council I was directed to advise you that this council had decided to make an application for a free grant to cover the cost of formation and metalling of the Awaiti-Tirohia road in this county. “I was directed to 'bring this to your notice and ask for the support of your council towards this matter, as it is felt that when this road is formed and metalled it will be a great convenience to ratepayers in that portion of your county. It was agreed to support the Piako County in their application to secure a grant. The chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, pointed out that the Plains had metalled their length of the road.
