FAREWELL EVENING

MR DEREK MILLER HONOURED FUNCTION AT TU.RUA On Thursday evening, April 6, Mr and Mrs C. V. Marceau entertained 60 guests at their home at a party given in honour of Mr Derek Miller who is leaving shortly to join the R.N.Z.A.F. at a South Island station. Dances and games were greatly enjoyed by all present. The winners of the Monte Carlo were Miss Fay Miller and Mr lan Jamieson while the spot waltz was won by Miss Ngaire Hill and Mr Bert Maunder. The music for dancing was supplied by Mrs C. V. Marceau, Mrs J. Thrupp, Miss C. Bond, Miss G. Fox, Mr N. Miller and Mr J. Pye. A delicious suppei* was served by the ladies after which Mr C. Scott made the presentation of a beautiful fountain pen in Air Force blue. On presenting the gift on behalf of those present, Mr Scott said that he felt sure that 'Derek would be a credit to hs parents wherever he went ..ansi would make a job of his coming duty. Mr Millei* suitably replied, saving how grateful he was to Mr and Mrs Marceau for all their trouble and also the helpers and organisers of the evening,

Vocal items were rendered by Master Gordon Miller, “Sierra Sue,” “The Shrine of Saint Cecilia,” “Pistol Packin’ Mama”; Master Noel Fox, “White Christmas,” accompanied by Miss Gwen Fox at the piano. Those present were:—
