VISIT TO PAEROA

NETHERTON SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

PLACES OF INTEREST VISITED

(By

Margery Firth.)

On Wednesday afternoon a party of about thirty senior scholars from the Netherton School visited Paeroa. At one o’clock the children visited the Ohinemuri County Council Chambers where a meeting of the pupils’ cabinet was held round the table, the school president Master Ken Firth presiding ovei’ the meeting, while the rest of the pupils sat in the public gallery. At half-past one the meeting adjourned to visit the Hauraki Plains Gazette Office where the children watched the setting up and printing of the paper.

At a quarter past two the pupils paid a visit to the Paeroa Borough Council Chambers where the cabinet meeting was concluded. Here the business included proposals to send letters of thanks to Mr A. A. Jenkinson, town clerk, and the manager of the Gazette, Mr R. L. Darley, for allowing the interesting visits to be made.
