MEETING HELD IN KEREPEEHI RESIGNATION OF SECRETARY A general meeting of the Kerepeehi Patriotic Committee was held in the Kerepeehi Hall on Thursday evening, March 30. Mrs Strong presided over a large attendance in the absence of Mrs Fisher the president who is at present an inmate of the Auckland hospital. Mr McMillan proposed that the secretary send a letter of sympathy and best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mrs Fisher. Arrangements were made for the gala day to be held on Easter Monday and a programme of races, swimming, steeplechases, bowls, weight-guessing, tug-o’-war, baby competitions, etc., was submitted and approved. The following were allotted their positions for the day:—Gate, Mr C. Poland; starters, Messrs A. E. Mahoney and T. Jordan; copper, Messrs McGowan and T.. Jordan; judges, Mr C. F. Pearce, C. Pai'fitt, E. Harris, J. Thrupp, N. Wallace, D. G. McMillan; call steward, Mr J. W. Neate; hot water, Mr W. Benny; weight-guessing, Mr H. G. Candy; judging distance, Mr A. Strong; weight-lifting, Mr A. Hayes; produce stalls, Mesdames A. Strong, E. Taylor, H. W. Candy, A. Hayes; refreshments, Mesdames H. Collins. C. Billing, W. Kidd, W. Bailey, R. Wentworth; nail driving, Mr R. Trembath; bowls, Mr H. W.< Candy; putting the shot, Mr W. Bailey; copper trail, Mr W. Kearns; ugly man, pretty lady, Mr W. E. Chick; records, Miss J. Herbert; tug-o’-war, Ferry road, Mr T. Lynch; Muka -'Muka road, Mr R. Harvey; Peka Peka road, Mr P. G. Pearce; township, Mi' T. Jordan; Wharepoa road, Mr H. G. Candy; Wani’s road, Mr A. Hayes; Maori team to pull the winners’ of the above roads; .baby competition Judge, Mrs Motion. Messrs G. Garry and R. Wentworth in charge of competitions. Mr H. Colling donated a prize for a competition. Mrs A. J. Innis tendered her resignation as secretary, after three years’ service, owing to ill health. Mr McMillan proposed a vote of thanks >to Mrs Innis for her services l as secretary and wished her a speedy recovery.
