IN SHORT SUPPLY
LITTLE STARCH AVAILABLE CORNFLOUR AS SUBSTITUTE One of the commodities at present practically unprocurable in Thames is starch. One of the reasons for this, stated a grocer, was that as starch was made from rice, which is a food, most firms had stopped making il. Many housewives have been reduced to using cornflour as a substitute, as this seems to serve the purpose. However, housewives need not worry about .always having to use cornflour as a substitute in the future. Another grocer stated that, starch would soon be manufactured from maize.
