GAY COMEDY

“MISS ANNIE ROONEY” PROGRAMME AT REGENT “THE OMAHA TRAIL” ALSO ' Against a gay, laugh-filled background of delightful comedy and rich humour, Shirley Temple is presented, as a modern Miss who gets her first romantic screen kiss in the new Edward Small production, “Miss Annie Rooney,” which will show on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Regent Theatre. In the film, Shirley is seen as a girl who lives on the wrong side of the tracks but wins everyone on both sides with her warm loveliness and infectious gaiety. -She is the granddaughter of a retired policeman and daughter of an insurance salesman who would rather promote billiondollar ideas than work at his job. When Annie Rooney gets her family mixed with that of a socialite boyfriend from Park Avenue, the complications are astounding and sidesplitting. But it all comes out just right, with Annie innocently engineering success for her father’s big idea.

Action lovers and Western fans have a treat in store for them when they see “The Omaha Trail,” which •will also show at the Regent Theatre Tuesday and Wednesday. Epic in scope, the picture deals with coming of the railroads to the great plains of Kansas and Nebraska. Handsome James Craig, remembered' for his performance, in “Northwest Rangers,” is starred'. The virile Craig is aptly cast as a Blarney-tongued Irishman, Patrick Candel, who attempts to transport a locomotive by ox train from Habersford to Omaha. FINALLY TO-NIGHT i “BETWEEN US GIRLS” “Between Us Girls” will show finally to-night at the Regent Theatre.
