FARM STATISTICS
STOCK AND CROPS RAISED COLLECTION OF INFORMATION One of the manifold duties which fall to the police force is the annual collection of farm statistics for the Census and Statistics Department, and this work is (being' completed! at present by the Paeroa police, which has been collecting the returns in the last two months. Forms have been sent cut to those who own land on which stock or crops might be raised, and' after the forms have been filled in it is required that they should be returned as soon as possible.
The statistics are based on the position at January 31 and a description of the land is sought, the amount and type of crops grown (under 26 headings), the area of grass seed, hay or ensilage harvested: (13 headings), a summary of the total area of the holding (12 classifications), details of the grassland) topdressed, and -particulars of the livestock on the holding (18 classifications).
