WAITAKARURU SPORTS
ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE Arrangements for the forthcoming big day at Waitakaruru are well under way. A committee meeting was held last Monday night, when details were gone into for the programme. As the chairman, Mr Alec. Otter is shortly leaving the district to take up residence in Auckland, he asked that he might be relieved of his duties and Mr Theo Evans. was elected to the chair in his place. Much satisfaction was felt at the generous response to the appeal for trophies and donations in prize money, produce for the stalls, and for the refreshment booth. The programme is a very full one in both horse events and novelty competitions and races. The children, too, have not been overlooked, as there is a number of events which will please all ages, and as there is no entry fee for these and good prizes, it is expected that there will 'be a large number of competitors. This will be a day that will be long remembered given fine weather, as the site is excellent, with plenty of shade and the committee looks' forward to a large attendance.
