GUIDE PARTY
FUNCTION HELD IN TURUA AN ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON On a recent Saturday afternoon a Girl Guide party was held in the Turua Buildings. The party was organised by the Turua Guide Committee to encourage the older members and to welcome new members to the movement. Miss Noble, 'District Commissioner, attended the party and addressed the guides, speaking of many things helpful to the girls and said that next time she came to Turua she hoped to enroll many new members. Miss Grace Tetley with the assistance of Miss Meryl Kerby has kindly consented to take the guides from now on as Mrs E. Heasman, former captain, has reluctantly been compelled to resign. Rev. David ('Church of England), in addressing the girls said he would always be pleased to welcome the guides at church parades. Games and competitions were indulged in and were followed by a delightful afternoon tea while a birthday cake with nine candles was served by the committee.
