PICNIC AT KOMATA
AN ENJOYABLE OUTING RESULTS OF RACES RUN METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL The Paeroa Methodist Sunday School held their annual picnic on the property of Mr L. Shaw at Komata Creek on Saturday, March 11 when a very enjoyable day was spent. Rides in a rowing boat and on a horse proved of great attraction. The winners of the sporting events judged by Mr H. Wood and Mr s N. Millar were: — Girls, 5 years.—Myra -Millar 1, Betty Allison 2, Patty Gaylor 3. Girls and boys, 6 and 7 years. Alison Roberts 1, Garry Marshall 2, Warren Bartley. 3. ’ Girls, Byrs.—-Glenys Prime 1, Coralie Zeigler 2. • ■ Boys, 8 years.—Laurence Gleadow 1, Graham Marshall 2, Lisle Pennell 3. Girls, 9 years.—Avis Millar 1, Mary McDonnell 2. Boys, 9 years. —Alan Pennell 1, Robin Zeigler 2. Girls, W years.—June Millar 1, Noeline Denton 2, Heather Pullar 3. Boys, 11, years.—Colin Wood 1, Owen Millar 2, Doug. Scott 3. Endeavour girls.—Nola Freeman 1, Colleen Pennell 2, Marjorie Zeigler 3. Long distance run, boys.—'Colin Wood 1, Selwyn Zeigler 2,> Brian Wood 3. Long distance race, girls.—Nola Freeman 1, Colleen Pennell 2, June Millar 3. Skipping, girls.—June Millar 1, Joan Allison 2, Nola Freeman 3. Skipping, boys—Brian Wood 1, Selwyn Zeigler 2. Girls, high jump.—June Millar, Colleen Pennell and Marjorie Zeigler, dead heat, 1. Lunch and afternoon tea- were provided and dispensed by the ladies of the church. It was a tired but very happy crowd of children who cheered as they left for theii* homes.
